Some species including Honey Bees and Bumblebees live in socially colonies. The majority of Bees including Honey Bees live in strict social colonies with a structure that consists of Worker Bees, Drone Bees and a single Queen Bee.

All members of the Bee family can be recognized by their dual pair of transparent wings, short, stocky bodies and stingers. Honey Bees are small insects that reach up to 220mm. They have hairy, robust bodies with a wide waist. They are colored in black and yellow stripes, however, the yellow is less vivid than the yellow stripes on wasps.   

Not all Bees in the UK sting, however, the Honey Bee is the most likely out of all the species to sting you. They will sting when they feel threat against their honey and/or nest. The Sweat Bees will only sting when provoked. The most aggressive Bee known is the Tree Bee, they are considered more aggressive than the Bumblebee and can sting people around their nest.
